The 10 Biggest Moves of the NFL Offseason

The NFL offseason is never short on drama, but the past week has taken things to a whole new level. A pair of blockbuster trades involving some of the league’s biggest stars just sent shockwaves across the NFL, while several notable signings continued to reshape the outlook for teams heading into the 2026 season.

With so much happening around the league, let’s take a look at the 10 biggest moves of the NFL offseason and what they could mean for the months ahead.

Rams Trade for DE Myles Garrett

One of the biggest moves of the NFL offseason came just days ago when the Rams traded for reigning DPOY Myles Garrett. The former Browns superstar didn’t come cheap, with Los Angeles giving up pass rusher Jared Verse, along with multiple draft picks to complete the deal.

For Los Angeles, the message couldn’t be clearer. The Rams believe their Super Bowl window is open right now and were willing to sacrifice significant draft capital to land one of the league’s most dominant defenders.

Patriots Trade for WR AJ Brown

The Patriots made a big splash recently by acquiring A.J. Brown from the Eagles. Brown arrives in Foxborough as a proven No. 1 receiver, having topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past four seasons.

For New England, the move is all about taking an already dangerous team to the next level. The Patriots reached the Super Bowl last season, and the addition of Brown gives Drake Maye an elite weapon as they chase their first championship of the post-Tom Brady era.

Bengals Trade for DT Dexter Lawrence

Few players can change a defence the way Dexter Lawrence can, which is why the Bengals were willing to part with the No. 10 overall pick to acquire him from the Giants. The veteran defensive tackle arrives in Cincinnati as one of the NFL’s most disruptive forces at his position.

The move comes at a crucial time for a Bengals defence that struggled last season. With Trey Hendrickson no longer in the picture, Lawrence gives Cincinnati another impact defender to build around on the defensive line.

Chiefs Sign RB Kenneth Walker III

Fresh off an MVP performance in Super Bowl LX, Kenneth Walker signed with the Chiefs in a move that could pay huge dividends this season. Walker arrives in Kansas City with a reputation for turning routine touches into game-changing moments.

While the Chiefs have relied on solid running backs in recent years, they haven’t had a true home-run threat in the backfield. Walker’s ability to break long runs and create big plays adds another layer to an offence that already forces defences to worry about Patrick Mahomes and the passing game.

Broncos Trade for WR Jaylen Waddle

If there was one thing Denver’s offence lacked, it was game-breaking speed. The acquisition of Jaylen Waddle helps solve that problem immediately. A constant threat whenever the ball is in his hands, Waddle gives the Broncos a player capable of turning a short catch into a touchdown from anywhere on the field.

Denver reached last year’s AFC Championship Game thanks to an elite defence, but the offence lacked consistent explosiveness through the air. Waddle’s ability to stretch the field and create big plays after the catch adds an element to Denver’s passing attack that simply wasn’t there last season.

Rams Trade for CB Trent McDuffie

If you needed any more proof that the Rams are all in on this season, look no further than their trade for Trent McDuffie. Earlier this offseason, Los Angeles sent a package of draft picks to Kansas City in order to land one of the game’s top young cornerbacks.

McDuffie brings versatility and physicality to an already talented defence. His ability to play both outside and in the slot gives Los Angeles added flexibility while strengthening a secondary that will be tested often in a loaded NFC.

49ers Sign WR Mike Evans

After spending the first 12 seasons of his career in Tampa Bay, fans were shocked when Mike Evans signed with the 49ers in free agency. While the move marked the end of an era, it also gave San Francisco a proven veteran at receiver.

With his ability to win contested catches, Evans should be an ideal red-zone target for Brock Purdy. With Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne no longer in San Francisco, Evans should play a major role in the passing attack from day one.

Cowboys Trade for LB Rashan Gary

While bigger names stole most of the attention this offseason, the Cowboys quietly improved their defence by acquiring Rashan Gary. The veteran pass rusher is known for his physical style of play and relentless motor, helping Dallas address the void left by Micah Parsons’ departure.

Dallas’ defence has been a major issue in recent seasons, and Gary could play a key role in helping turn things around. His ability to defend both the run and pass game should make him an immediate difference-maker for the Cowboys.

Bills Trade for WR DJ Moore

Josh Allen got some much-needed help this offseason when the Bills acquired D.J. Moore from the Bears. Buffalo’s receiving corps lacked depth, making Moore an important addition for a team that needed another dependable weapon in the passing game.

Moore brings speed, playmaking ability and a track record of production to an offence that was lacking in all three. His arrival should take some pressure off Allen while giving the Bills a much-needed boost at receiver.

Chargers Sign TE David Njoku

Not every impactful offseason move involves a blockbuster trade, and the Chargers may have found that out by signing David Njoku. The veteran tight end gives Los Angeles another proven pass-catching option and adds experience to an offence that was searching for another reliable target.

Njoku should fit nicely alongside Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ passing attack. Pairing him with second-year tight end Oronde Gadsden gives Los Angeles a big, physical tight end duo capable of causing problems both in the red zone and over the middle of the field.
